As so many other things are, what to wear during rush week can vary depending on your college. However, there is somewhat of a norm that most colleges go by. Keep these things in mind when getting all dressed up for rush week:
Also, check out a couple YouTube videos we found with girls showing what they wore to recruitment each day:
Fashion: Sorority Recruitment Outfits
- Drab to Fab: During rush week, the dress code will typically start out casual then progress to being very formal by the last day. On the first day where you’re just visiting each house, you may be given t-shirts to wear with blue jeans or shorts. If that’s the case, there’s no pressure there! Once you progress to the next step, you probably need to move up to a cute skirt and nice top. Not too dressy, but not casual. Next will be the sundresses; they’re cute, simple and can leave an impression if you pick the right one! You’re starting to get serious about the sororities that you’re looking at, so at this point you need to look your best. The best will be saved for the last day; the day that you will choose your sorority! On this day, you may be advised to wear a cocktail dress.
- Check the Details: As we all know, girls notice things. If you have your nails freshly manicured, we know. If you spent a good amount of time on your hair, we know. So, go the extra mile and spend some extra time on the details. Splurge on a mani/pedi, wake up earlier to make time for your beauty rituals and get your make-up just right! Putting this effort in will show the girls that you genuinely care about and respect this process.
- Be Comfortable Showing Who You Are: If you don’t feel comfortable in a certain outfit, don’t wear it. Find a dress or a skirt or shoes that fit what you like. If you’re not comfortable in what you’re wearing, you’re not going to be comfortable while talking to the girls. Also, throwing some extra flare into your outfit to show your style can be a great idea! If you wear a necklace that pops your dress, a sorority member may be more likely to remember you. Show your style!
- Leave Louis V. at Home: When rushing, the sorority girls aren’t going to be judging whether or not you’ve got money. They’re looking to see your personality and how well you match up with their sorority. So, leave the impressive name brands at home and let your true self shine through to get their attention!
